Het is ontslagen van zijn harteplicht
Er was getekend maar het is weer vrij
Failliet gegaan en voor de druk gezwicht
Het plichtsbesef verwerd tot tegenzin
Nu niets dan stof en scherven, nooit meer pijn
Nu nooit meer hoop, berouw of hunkering
Het hart dat brak, weet niet hoe hart te zijn
Zo simpel was het, nauw’lijks iets gehoord
De wereld zag het, toen het zachtjes brak
Het vocht, het faalt, de wereld draait nog voort
De maan die volgt. En in mijn borst het hart
